0 Question: why dont people really include the sun in food chains even though they can? Asked by anon-1953 to Donna, Jo, Mark, timcraggs on 24 Jun 2010 in Categories: General.
Donna MacCallum answered on 23 Jun 2010:
Energy from the sun should be included in food chains as this is required for plants and bacteria to carry out photosynthesis
Joanna Buckley answered on 23 Jun 2010:
It should be included as the sun makes things grow.
The next time you see a food chain, draw the sun on it.
Hang on, am I saying it’s OK to do a bit of science graffiti? 🙂
Tim Craggs answered on 24 Jun 2010:
Hi Alphabet,
I don’t know. But the sun is the ultimate source of all the energy on Earth so it would make some sense. It depends on the convention that people use.
