Hayfever is an allergy to pollens. Your body, and other hayfever sufferers, have an extreme immun reaction to pollen – which leads to runnny nose, red eyes – well, you know the symptoms! not much fun in spring, I guess?
I don’t get it but my boyfriend’s got it pretty bad at the moment… the pollen levels are very high at the moment so I bet you’re suffering with it bad right now.
The symptoms of hay fever occur when the immune system overreacts to pollen. When the body comes into contact with pollen, cells in the lining of the nose, mouth and eyes release a chemical called histamine. This triggers the symptoms of an allergic reaction. If you have anti-histamines that you can buy from shops then this helps reduce your symptoms.
It is probably an over reaction to pollen or a seed of some description. You can take anti histamines for it, which calm down the over reaction you are having. They work pretty well.
Antihistamines are the general treatment, lucyja. The problem is that the pollen levels are so high at the moment. I think it’s the highest now that they’ve been all year. You get different pollens at different times of the year (grass pollen, tree pollen etc) but you sound like you’re allergic to the same kind as my boyfriend which is very high right now.
He’s been taking the antihistamines every morning and he still has the symptoms but they’re nowhere near as bad as if he would stop taking them. I wouldn’t recommend that. I’m afraid the levels are so high at the moment that there’s nothing to do really apart from wait it out. I think next week isn’t supposed to be as warm and humid so next week, you should to feel a little better. 🙂
