      Hi there Kayne,

The first thing I discovered was to do with the Green Fluorescent Protein. This protein glows green under ultra violet light. I (along with a number of other people) discovered how the protein got into the right shape so that it could glow.

Now there are lots of different colours of fluorescent proteins. You can have a look here:

In 1993 : that the energy inside the proton is distributed across a very large number of gluons carrying a small amount of energy (as opposed to a few carrying a lot). The gluons are the fundamental particles that carry the strong nuclear force and which bind the quarks together to form the proton or neutron.

One of the first things that I discovered was at school when we carried out experiments to see whether woodlice preferred light and dry or wet and dark spaces – nothing new, I know – but this was one of the first things that I ever discovered in a proper experiment – after this I was hooked on research!

      Hi Kayne.

The first thing I discovered was using a mirror or a lens on a sunny day could set fire to stuff. You name it…bits of paper, ants, clothing, my mate’s foot.

I was a curious child! Have you ever discovered anything?

ps. Don’t try setting fire to your mate’s foot. They won’t like it.
