I’ve set up some experiments – chatted with a new post-doc – had one on-line chat already and am about to take part in a second on-line chat

      Hiya beckymaskill and hmarshall!

Well the time now is 11.53 and I am eating a cupcake that my boyfriend and I made. It’s the last of our batch of 12 so I am quite disappointed 🙂

I got up at 7 am when the alarm went off. I fell out of bed like I do every morning. My boyfriend and I had a cuppa and some cereals then he went off to work at 7.50 am to catch the train to Sheffield and I left the house to walk to work at 8 am. I got there at 8.20 am, spoke to a couple of people I work with. Today, the budget will be announced by the new cabinet so I’ve been caught up in that this morning. I checked on an experiments I did yesterday and it worked. Hurrah! I had a live chat this morning with a school and after that, I went to chat to some teachers about starting a science club in their school.

There’s another live chat now so I better head off but after that I’m going to have lunch because I am very hungry 🙂

Pretty tedious day today – along with doing science I’m in charge of the teaching in the Physics department and my university and also a research group of 60 – so I spent the day trying to work out who will teach what and dealing with HR to extend the contracts for all staff…. so lots of emails and Excel. A brief chat with one of my postdocs about his work trying to measure the mass of the W boson (which carries the weak nuclear force) from collisions of protons and anti-protons at the Tevatron collider…

      Hi Becky,

So far today I have cleaned microscope slides, made up lots of solutions of different chemicals, met with the other members of my research group, and answered a lot of questions on this website!!

      Have you been busy?
