Question: is god real?

God is definately real for a huge percentage of the population.

From a scientific point of view there’s no experimental evidence that God is real. I’ve no problem with people believing in God and such beliefs can be a force for good but we shouldn’t confuse belief with scientific fact. Literal interpretations of the Bible perpetuated by Creationists e.g. that the earth is only 6,000 years should have no place in an evidence-based modern society.

Mark is correct. There is no scientific proof that God exists, but there are many interesting things about the universe that are consistent with the existence of God. Einstein once said, “The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is at all comprehensible.”
Mark is also correct that we should not read the bible as if it were a science text book, it isn’t! That is not to say that it does not contain truth, just that we need to use all of the different knowledge that is available to us in science, theology, history and philosophy, and “the truth” will stand up to questioning from all these different points of view.

I don’t think that god is real, because if he was he would of stopped all the horrific natural disasters

It’s one of those things which really divides people – some of which passionately do or don’t and start wars because of their beliefs.
