In my current job I get around £30,000 a year. Many jobs pay more, and many jobs pay less. I don’t think many people go into science for the money, but you can get very rich if you spin out (form) a company from some of your research.

      HI abc1
      Pay is all relative!
As a PhD student I didn’t get well paid at all (although the current PhDs get very well paid).
I’ve now been a researcher for over 10 years, so get paid quite well

I love what I do. I earn about £30,000 a year which means if I see something nice that I want, then I can generally afford it.

I’m saving up for a house at the moment. I can’t afford one of those just yet.

Being a research scientist isn’t badly paid – I’m sure some people would love £30,000 a year but we could all probably do something which meant we;d get paid more. I could move to London for example and be paid more but I don’t want to move from the North 🙂

About £16/hr – I’ll leave it to you to work out a yearly amount – I work a lot of hours in a week !
