• Question: does a black hole have mass - or does the vacuum take away the mass of whatever it consumes?

      A black hole does have mass. It has a lot of mass, actually and that what makes is a black hole. The more mass it has then the larger the gravitational field. It has so much mass that is collapses into itself and not even light can escape.

      Being in a black hole would be pretty awful. You could see out but no one could see you back. So no matter how much you wave your arms and scream and shout, you won’t be seen 🙁

      You’re not planning on falling into any soon I hope!

      What a good question! Black holes definitely have mass, as this is what causes their massive gravitational fields.

      They have mass – shed loads of it concentrated to a very high density – a black hole with 10 times the mass of the sun has a radius of only 30km…
