If I’m being really honest – yes, I have been bored in my job before.
We did this massive study looking at immune responses during infection, which required the analysis of hundreds of pictures of infected kidneys. The analysis took ages and was really tedious – however, the scientific paper that we got out of it was really satisfying 🙂

I’m really lucky now, as I get to decide what I do – so hopefully I won’t be bored anytime soon.

Day-to-day I’m generally so busy that I don’t have time to be bored and the people that I work with are great fun!

I never get bored of doing the science but I do find some of the bureaucracy that I have to deal with both from the university side and the research council/government side tedious (and often completely pointless) but I expect the latter is true of most jobs. The science is never boring.

Not really, Fiona. I don’t generally get bored of doing lots of different things. I can imagine I’d get bored of doing the same thing again and again but luckily my job isn’t like that. I meet loads of interesting people, mainly school pupils your age and they make me laugh so life’s good.

I recommend when you get a job that you get one that’s really interesting and means you do loads of different stuff. I promise you you’ll never be bored.

There are boring bits to every job, but the great thing about my job is that it is so varied, that I am never doing a boring but for very long.

So on the whole, I don’t get bored with my job, but there are some more tedious moments.
